calculate average ?

I apologize for this lame question, which has been asked before - but
I've tried the suggestions w/ zero success.

I have a report, based on a query, which includes 4 fields in the
detail section:

appNum
receiveDate
completeDate
turnAroundTime (which is a calculated field in my query, i.e.,
completeDate - ReceiveDate)

all I want is to do is calculate the average turnAroundTime. I have
placed a textbox in the footer and used the expression builder to
generate Avg([turnAroundTime]).

The footer just displays Error.


What am I doing wrong.

Thanks, and again I apologize ... but I've searched for an answer for
the last hour w/ no luck

Which footer section? It needs to be in the Report Footer section.
