cacheman and defrag option

I have a question about Cacheman free 5.5.0.30 .
I have searched the web but without result probably due to cacheman XP
being a commercial product.
the option to defrag while the system is idle, does it defrag the boot
partition only or all drives, I'm not sure whether it defrags at all as
I've seen no activity while the puter is idle and the partitions all
need a decent defrag when I get round to it
anyone know ?

IIRC the defrag is for each individual disk, one at a time.
It's been awhile since I've used Cacheman but I think it does everything.
Do you have to have "Cacheman 5.5.0.30"?
I typed it in google and got pages and pages and pages. See here (I didn't wade through them).

Outer Technologies apparently now charge $25 for CachemanXP
but I still have the latest free version 1.1 of the d/l zipfile here:

This is the version for running on XP and I use it no problem.

Given XP's memory management is there even a reason/advantage for using
Cacheman anymore?

I was under the impression that given enough memory and XP that programs
such as this were fairly useless and occasionally less effective than just
letting Windows do it (I'm NOT being an an apologist for MS, just stating
what I was hearing a few years back). I do still use Cacheman to recover
memory on my work MS 2000 Professional setup, and I always used it on Win
98.

I guess there are some reasons why it's obsolete on XP but it does
allow tweaking of various cache settings* and many many other things.
I have it running in my systray showing free mem and pagefile usage.
Takes less than 1mb to run at boot up.

*DNS cache, icon cache, IE cache, cache timeout etc.

I just reviwed the setting and found that the option to defrag hadf
been unchecked, I thought I had checked it.. the defrag option is the
main reason for using this program.. it sems to have done it's job as a
large file was copied to a large drive that
I like to keep fefrahed and it was good when I just checked now, it
would normally be quite fragmented
