A cache object is an object that is in the cache, ipso facto because it's there and does not break the laws of any known quantum physics. The application object is an object that's applied, rather like a baseball bat to the cranium of that queue jumper. Similarly, if I bang a nail into a piece of wood, that is an object applied.
