Jeanie

Lately I've been getting alert messages from windows that
the percentage of cache hits is low. And also that I need
more Ram or close uneeded applications. ( what appl. does
it mean? ) And another error message that pops up that
says, system memory can't be read at times when I try to
start AOL, then it crashes. This time it worked but still
getting those error messages. Does this have anything to
do with the paging file? What can I do to create more
memory without buying more ram? Please help if anyone
can! TIA Jeanie

To do this, open control panel and click on system.click
on advanced tab and find performance section and click
its settings button. When the performance option dialog
box appears, choose the advanced tab, and click on change
button in the virtual memory area.In the field at the top
of the virtual memory box, make sure the drive you want to
keep your swapfile(virtual memory)is
highlighted, then, select the custom size radio button. The
two empty fields beneath this area are where you enter
the size of the swap file. The rule of thumb is 2X the
size of your ram example:(256mb ram X 2=512mb swapfile)
Be Sure you click the SET button once you entered the new
settings, and reboot computer...Good luck.
