Cable Modem

I just purchased a computer w/XP on it. I have a cable modem, always before it automatically downloaded mail. Sometimes Outlook Express will bring in the mail and sometimes I have to hit send and receive to get my mail. I am sure it is in the way it is set up, can someone help?

In Outlook Express, go to Tools, Options, General tab,
click the option for Send & Receive Messages at Startup,
then OK. Also above that option, make sure the When
Starting go directly to my Inbox option is checked . . .
