Cable modem with hub to multiple home PC's, ok?

Hi, I got a cable modem with one USB and one CAT5. Is it possible to use a
hub connecting the cable modem to several computers too?

I assume I'm only paying for one IP with one cable modem? If not using ICS
or NAT, would it possible working connecting 2 PC's "directly" via the
cablem modem to internet?

Not with a single IP address. Whether your contract with your ISP will
give you more than one without additional charge is between you and them.

Routers are cheap.

Yes, if your cable company allows you to have multiple IPs (this case is
extremely rare, but my co-worker NE of Philadelphia has this option).

*However*, you would be much better served (and protected) by putting a
router/firewall between you and the outside world. The LinkSys 4-port
router/firewalls are well below $100, unlike the $250 they used to cost a
few years back.

Plug the cable modem CAT5 into the LinkSys WAN port, plug your PCs into the
other 3 internal LAN ports.
