I am having problems connecting to a computer that is not
connected to the network via a hub, but a router and I
can't seem to access that computer from the other two
computers connected to the router through a hub.

Setup.

3 Computers
# 1 - Connected to router
# 2 - Connected to hub which is connected to the router
# 3 - Connected to hub which is connected to the same
router

#1 can't be seen by # 2 and # 3. # 2 and # 3 can see each
other. All computers have access to the internet which
works fine.

HELP!

Hi,

THe fact that PC #1 is not connected to the hub is the problem. You have
basically isolated PC #1 from the rest of the network, now unless you are
running a server Operating system on that PC #1, with a proxy server, you
won't be a ble to see it from the rest of the network. If security is an
issue, than purchase a software firewall on top of your router, and plug PC
#1 to the hub.

I assume that you've connected the hub's uplink port to the router and
that all of the computers get IP addresses from the router. Check to
see that their IP addresses are all in the same subnet. Typical
subnets assigned by routers include 192.168.0.x and 192.168.1.x.

If all of that's OK, these tips should help you get everything
working:

1. Permanently disable XP's built-in Internet Connection Firewall on
local area network connections -- it's for use only on a direct modem
connection to the Internet. Disable and un-install all other
firewalls while troubleshooting. Details here:

Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall

2. Use only one protocol for File and Printer Sharing. If the network
needs more than one protocol, unbind File and Printer Sharing from all
but one of them. Details here:

Windows XP Network Protocols
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp/network_protocols.htm

3. Make sure that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled on all computers.
Details here:

Enable NetBIOS Over TCP/IP (NetBT)
