Hi,I just purchased a Motorola cable modem, waiting for the cable co. to come
and install line next week. The modem offers ethernet or usb hookups...
Which connection would be best on my A7N8X Dlx? I do not use LAN connections
at present, but may network old computer in the future.
Thanks,

Chris

I would use ethernet if available. If you will later network old computer,
you will have to buy a hub/switch or another network adapter. If you choose
USB, you could get by without buying one of those.
I´d still go for ethernet.

I'd go ethernet for sure, and get a 4 or 8 port DSL Router, they work
great for sharing the DSL line and files between PCs.

Good luck with the DSL line! 1500/128 $29.95 a month plan here, ;p

As a cable company employee I will say Ethernet. Even if a computer doesn't
have a Ethernet port, we will use an USB to Ethernet adapter instead of
hooking the modem up with USB.

I'll say ethernet as well. I use the nVidia port (the lower one) on my
A7N8X Deluxe.

I had a self-installation kit from Adelphia for my cable service, but I
returned the Motorola SB5100 modem (for $3 less per month) and bought a
Toshiba PCX5000 cable modem/firewall/router. It has ethernet connections
for four PCs and an additional USB port, so now I can plug my laptop into
it. It works great, you can configure it from a browser, and there was a
$50 rebate on it when I bought it in late June.

If you have extra PCs to connect, and you can save some monthly rental fees,
it's a great way to go.
