Cable modem makes my pc turn on automatic wh to do?

When i shut down my pc ,my cable modem makes him turn on
again why is this happening?
i just happend to reinstal my windows Xp pro and instal
SP2
and every time i turn off my pc i have to pull the modem
cable off need hellp!
pleasseee!
i dont want to format again.

Adjust the BIOS settings to disable Wake-on-LAN. Instructions for
doing so will be in the computer's manual.
