Cable Internet Connection Problem

Quite often my LAN Status will show that received packets have stopped while
sent packet count continues to climb. This happens just after startup,
during internet activity and after periods of idle. Restarting the
connection with the modem disconnected sometimes gets it going again.
Usually the computer has to be restarted.

Cable company says the network card may be going.

Computer manufacturer gives their basic reply and refers me to the cable
company.

Reason for the post on windowsxp is that this also seems to occur with my
Lexmark X85 printer. Just suddenly stops working and a small "x" appears on
the tray icon. Printer manufacturer gives the basic reply and good luck.

Any ideas?

Check your IP address and sub-net mask, occasionaly, they
get re-configured, as the cable modem is a dynamic IP
system, that is, it's always changing when you log on
until you log off.

As for the lexmark issue. I have an X73 which uses an USB
interface.

You should go into your hardware profiles by right
clicking your My Computer Icon, click on propertied, and
head into device manager..
Scroll down the list to printers, and see if you have any
conflicts.

Lexmark drivers don't play well, with other imaging
devices, like scanners or digital cameras, especally if
you printer is a 3 in one, printer copire scanner combo.

Hope this helps.
