Anyone know where I can find one?
Have been searching on google but am
having no luck so far.

Thanks

I think it is interesting that in the manual they show pictures of the SPDIF
cable and module, USB/Game module and cable, etc. but there is no picture
for the Firewire cable, just the pinouts. And even if you could find a cable
that looks like it would work, you have to be very careful because an
incorrectly wired connector could trash your camera or whatever you plug
into it. I know this sounds lame, but I would go after ASUS and see if they
could supply me with a cable or direct me to someone that could.

p.s. I have heard a number of bad things about the firewire connection on
this MB. I am using a SoundBlaster Audigy so I plug my camera into the
firewire port on that.

Thanks, I just sent an email to Asus but I don't
really expect much from them. The reason I
wanted the cable is I've been having problems
with the rear port and wanted to try the other one.

Assuming you want header, cable and bracket then search Yahoo and Froogle
(www.froogle.com) on "firewire bracket" without the quotes.

I got hold of a case with a front panel firewire
port that had a cable with header that I was able
to use.
Before when I tried to backup on my external
firewire drive it would disappear from my system
within 10-15 minutes of starting the backup.
Last night and today I've done a backup and
restore using each port without and problems.
Of course to be really sure I need to do more,
but it seems to be fixed.
I don't know if it's because of the case or installing
the cable on the header cut down on noise on
the chip.

I have a Coolermaster Centurion case and they botched the header
wiring. There are complaints on their website forums going back
several months but I bought mine less than a month ago. There were no
instructions packed with the case and as you've seen there is little
in the mobo manual. Plugged into the front connector and no device
was detected (but not damaged at least!!). Worked OK from back panel.
Found good information here:

Using the diagrams I switched the ground connections and now my drive
can be accessed. I'm still not real clear if there's no real
connection standard or if the problem is the manufacturers don't
adhere to to it.
