Cable Connection

Hi,
I have a small problem with my cable connection with the ISP.
It is probably nothing but quite annoying.
Since this morning, my Broadband Cable Connection to the internet keeps
disconnecting and gets connected again straight away though, can anybody
help me clearing this out? Perhaps I have to put a check mark some where in
the configuration? OS Windows XP SP1 Broadband ISP=Wanadoo
Anti Virus = NAV 2005
Thanks
Harry

Which cable?

1)Cable between cable modem and PC: You could try to get a newer cable.

2) Cable between wall (cable service) and cable modem: Aren't the cable
providers responsible? They should provide you with a good cable.

Sorry Yves, there seems to be a misunderstanding here,
I meant my internet connection to Wanadoo Broadband keeps dropping out about
20 minutes interval and I had configured it to reconnect again after 1
second and it does with no problem at all. It has never done this before.

Why not contact the Broadband provider, it just might be their problem.

NO need to panic. ISPs often have niggles themselves. ISPs are NOT your
local electric company or gas company.

I just had this problem last night! All of a sudden the computer
stopped working and the pages either didn't load or took forever.

I called my ISP and they said that I was getting signifient loss of
packets. Eventually we connected the computer modem directly to the
wall outlet and the problem was solved. A big 10' length of cable.
So we thought the splitter was bad. (A small 2' cable connects the
wall to a 3-way splitter. 1 to the computer and 2 to 2 TV's.). We
settled on the splitter and I was to buy at least a gig splitter.
After we hung up it started again. It turned out that the 2' piece
of cable from the wall to the splitter input was bad. I replaced it
with a 50' cable I had laying around. I'll replace the splitter
with a 1-2 Gig splitter as I roll past various stores and pick up a
new 2' cable. They are very hard to find..

Well all this means is that you are connected at the time you pinged.
