I have many CAB files. Trend Antivirus tells me that two of them are
viruses. Is this correct? When I go to delete them, I get a message
stating they're system files, and since they're in use, I cannot
delete them.

Is this true?

If not, how would I delete them?

I have many other CAB files, most of them less than a month old.
Should I delete them - or should I delete the whole subdirectory?

Thank you,

Barry Karas

P.S. I have many CPY files in my temp. subdirectory. Although none are
causing me trouble now, should I delete this subdirectory too?

Off-topic, please don't ever post your real name or email name in a
newsgroup, otherwise you'll get spam forever. Go to Tools > Accounts >
select your internet News account under the News tab, then Properties,
then General, and change your Name and E-mail address to something
phony. You can still post, but no-one can reach you, or *harvest* your
email address. You can hint at your real email address in your posting,
if you want people to write to you personally. Change it now, before
you have posted a lot.

I started posting with my real email address ca. 1998, and now I get
about 120 spams a day to that address.

Where are they? What folder(s)? What malware names did Trend use?
Is this correct?

Who knows? You would have to upload them for av scanning by other av
products to build confidence that Trend isn't false alarming.

Never delete anything until you find out what's going on. Many CABs
are used by the system as backup.

It's safe to delete files in a temp folder. No need to delete the temp
folder.

Ditto, but my ISP cuts them all off at the pass .. I never see them.
just as well, since my ISP also requires 'real' email addresses to be
used for sending emails, and some ISPs also require it for news
postings.

Besides, it's fun .. it keeps SPAMCOP well fed.

Don't delete anything until you check. Find the MS news groups for WinME
and ask there. Click on the following to get them......

Good idea. I have version 1.93/32.576. How would I change it on this
version?

Thank you,
