I was wondering about the quality of this Suite.
I can get a good deal on it since it's last years version.
Any info much appreciated.

Buying last year's model security software isn't the same as buying last
year's car model. The car is new (if a leftover) and still comes with
the same warranty. However, chances are good that last year's security
suite will not have this year's scanning engine updates which would find
this year's malware.

There is a lot of very good free stuff out there. Read recent posts in
this group, for example.

And, I don't recall ever seeing good recommendations for CA stuff,
regardless of year.

Don't know about this specific program but I will say that CA is the only AV
I've ever used that allowed my machine to get infected by a virus while the
program was running and up to date.

I worked with CA Security Suite on a customer's computer and I thought it
was poorly crafted. I would not recommend it and I would also not recommend
buying an older version of ANY security software product. The only suite I
would recommend is Norton Internet Security 2009 and that is based on using
it for about six months. Stay away from Norton 360 2.0 - it is a real
performance dog in the tradition of older Norton products.

They will *all* do this.

Can only speak from my experience and of the 8-10 AV programs I've
used\tried in the last 15 or so years CA has been the only one that's did it
to me.

I really find *paying* for a security suite not worth it. I've used
avast! for the past few years and it's better than any other security
suite I've had. Plus the VRDB is a nice touch.

It comes down to personal preference. Kinda like a security blanket.
