hi, how can I reset counter on epson c80 printer

I assume all the led's are blinking, if so to reset the waste counter in the
Stylus Color C80 just push the Ink button for more than ten seconds.
You should consider whether you want to replace or clean the waste pads, but in
my experience if this is the first time you are doing a reset on this printer
you should be OK until the next time the warning occurs, at that time you must
replace or clean the pads to avoid ink overflow.

A slight correction is required. Assuming all three LEDS are blinking
together, here's how you reset the waste ink counter:

Press both the paper and ink buttons at the same time that you press the
"ON" button. When the paper out LED begins to blink let go of the three
buttons, and before the blinking stops (it remains on for about 5
seconds) press the ink button for 10 seconds or a bit more.

Then you can turn the printer off, and turn it on again normally.

As others have mentioned, there are certain risks in resetting the ink
protection numbers without cleaning the waste ink pads.

That is a fatal error.
Only thing I can suggest is that you clean the linear scale that runs through
the carriage left to right, it is plastic with fine vertical lines on it. It
needs to be cleaned very carefully to avoid unhooking it at either end or
damaging the holes where it hooks at the ends, use a damp cloth. Otherwise
there is a loose connection in the printer or a vital component has failed.
Cheaper to replace the printer than have it serviced if there is a failed
component.

Art,
How wierd, I have two versions of the service manual (C70 C80) (RevA and RevB),
one of which has parts and one that doesn't.
Both have two different ways of resetting the counter, yours and mine. See
pages 26 and 74 of the RevB manual or pages 26 and 75 of the RevA manual
depending on which you have. The parts version is over 25MB, the other one
about 6MB.
Can you ellucidate?

This indicates a "fatal error". The most common cause is something
keeping the head carriage from moving (could be some piece of paper or
paper clip or something jammed stopping proper head carriage movement)
or the guide bar the head carriage rides on is dirty or the lubricant
has dried out, or the head is in locked position because the lock/head
ink wiper is stuck from dried ink.

1) Look for something blocking the head movement.

2) clean the guide bar with a clean paper towel or lintfree rag with
alcohol on it. Then place a few drops of sewing machine or 3in1 oil on
the guide bar and distribute it.

3) If that doesn't fix it, clean the area around the ink wiper (next to
the cleaning station, to its left) (using some ammoniated window
cleaner, drip the cleaner onto it with an eyedropper until it softens
the ink and allows it to move better.

Best of luck,

I don't know what Epson was up to. There are a heck of a lot of errors
in these Service Manuals, probably in part due to their being translated
from another language.

What I can say, is that in general, Epson printers require you start
with the printer off and holding one or more buttons to enter a special
service mode, at which point you can usually then indicate which service
process you require by pressing another one or two buttons.

That is to prevent accidentally changing some service feature while just
trying to use the printer normally.

I'd go for the standard "pattern" which is more how I posted it, just
because that's more typical of these sequences with Epson printers.
