I've been running XP Pro w/ SP2 for several months and have no desire
to uninstall the SP. Can I delete the folders in "download" ?? I went
to on MVP site that stated there would be "one large folder" in
"download" that could be deleted. I HAVE MORE THAN SIXTY folders in
"download" and they appear to be related to the SP2 install. Advice
please. TIA

Windows Update very rarely cleans up after itself. The Download folder is
the holding area for Windows Update updates. If the updates have been
installed successfully, then all the files and folders can be deleted.

The information about these installations is kept in the
DataStore\DataStore.edb file. Just make sure that all the updates have been
installed.

An easy way to determine this is to manually force a Windows Update ...
Custom. If it comes back 0 updates detected ... it is safe to delete all
files and folders.
