All of a sudden (literally it was working ok on Saturday,
we turned it off regularly and turned it on Sunday) our
computer will show a "C++ Visual Programming Error" or
some junk. There is also a problem with 2 .dll files that
we did not have a problem with before.
As soon as the windows 2000 desktop shows on the screen I
get two error boxes.
One is the C++ error (which I click "ok" since that is my
only option... no further information is made available)
and the other is a "Whagent is....kernal#.dll file." I
don't know exactly what it says, but it doesn't to seem to
mess much up.
Then I go to sign on to AOL (which I've had for many many
moons... I've had 8.0 for a while too) and it intializes
the modem, connects to the network, communicates with the
network and is about to open my mailbox and other front
page screens when it says that there has been an error
in "Whaol" and that it is shutting down. Same thing with
the other .dll file.
3 Questions:
1) What is the deal here? What do these mean? What
are .dll files exactly?
2) How do I remedy this problem?
3) Why in the heck did it just "decide" to do this
seemingly overnight with no new downloads, no user
interaction, etc.?
Someone with big computer brains please help!
Thanks,
Katy
