Hi everyone,
I have several issues with Windows 2000, so hopefully some
of you can help me on how to resolve them:
1. I have the similar problem with Critical Updates
KB867801 and KB841873 reinstalling itself despite being
recognized in the 'installation history' log numerous
times that the CUs were d/l'd "successfully" via both
Automatic Update and from the website.
2. MS Word is not doing a proper recovery of files
when unintentional reboots are occurring while working on
a document in the program. MW used to automatically
recover the file that was interrupted during the reboot,
but now it is not doing it anymore. The reboots are
occurring on a regular basis now and disrupts my work day
(I'm a medical transcriptionist working from home - CPU
provided through employer). After the reboot occurs and
logging into the desktop, the file is not automatically
retrieved through the recovery format. When manually
pulling up the file, a good amount of data is lost and has
to be re-typed (auto recovery is set to save file every 1
minute).
3. When scanning the hard drive for viruses via
McAfee, a backdoor virus keeps popping up that is attached
to the file 'C:\WINNT\System32\ippcat.exe'and I can't
delete the file as it is use.
Is there a connection between the backdoor virus and the
problems occurring with lack of auto-recovery through MS
Word 2000 and the repetitive reinstallation of the above
mentioned CUs?
Any help you can problem with any of the above problems
would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks,
Denise
