Hi,
I've been running XP SP2 IE6 for a good long while, when all of a sudden I
cannot run IE anymore. After trying to start it, I get:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program c:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual
way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
Can anybody help? I did a system restore to an earlier point, then I can run
IE once (thought I'd solved the problem!), but on running the second time,
same error occurs. Repeated the Restore operation and same thing happened. I
tried to Add/Remove program/Windows elements, but I don't think this really
does anything (just takes IE off menus, etc). I run WinPatrol (Scotty dog),
so used it to remove IE helpers (e.g. Google search bar) but this didn't fix
the problem.
Any help appreciated! Otherwise machine runs fine. I had just got used to
using Firefox as a workaround, when I went to MS's Update page, and it said
Go Away, and don't come back until I'm using IE!!
