C++ runtime error in Explorer.exe

win98; latest internet explorer with patch. 80% of the
time when trying to access hotmail or other msn sites
receive message: MS VISUAL C++ Runtime Library / Runtime Error!
Program C:\windows\explorer.exe / abnormal program termination

and nothing but a cold boot works after that!

Has been happening since the first version 6. I now use
opera or netscape mostly.

Have reloaded IE 6 several times with no change.

Install, reboot, read FAQ and overview, use online update feature to obtain
