Hello,
Not a technical person here at all, so sorry in advance.
I am running windows 200 p
started it moments ago and it loads halfway then gives me
message indicating

(inaccessable_boot_device
Check for viruses
remove any newly installed HD or HD controllers
Check that your HD is properly configured
Refer to getting started in your manual)

Is there a way I can get to a c prompt to run a check on
the HD
I do not have a copy of the original CD....was from a job
2 years ago.
Any ideas, and thanks in advance

This is the error message you get when the hardware -primarily the
mainboard - is changed with Win2000. Win2000, in contrast to win98, does not
load generic drivers for the IDE bus but only the specific drivers for the
chipset. If you want to move the harddisk to a new computer, you should run
a patch available from microsoft before shutting down and changing the
hardware. The patch installs the generic drivers for the next boot - and
only the next boot. The required drivers will then be loaded when the first
boot takes place on the new machine.
If you haven't changed hardware then the problem is probably in a corrupted
registry. Copy the backup registry - hoping you have one - into the root
directory.
Maybe this will help.

thanks for the post.
Further info on the screen.

If this is the first time your system failed
to start then restart your computer; I f it has occured
before then run chkdsf

How do I run chkdsk if I can't get to the prompt?
I unfortunately also do not have the backup registry..

Sorry for the inane questions
