sometimes, not always - when entering a site on the
browser I get an errir that says the is a Visual C++
error with iexplore.exe - I have ver 6 and serv pk 1
already.

What does this mean?

Anything like these?
If not please post your exact error message.

Runtime Library Microsoft Visual C++. Runtime Error Program
C:\Windows\Explorer.exe or Iexplore.exe, abnormal program termination.
http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/CommonName.html

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. Buffer overrun detected!
Program: C:\program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe
A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's
internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be
terminated.
This has been confirmed as parasites.

Runtime!
"Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\explore.exe"
The application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
It appears that I have both Java(Sun) and MS VM on the PC. After
disabling/unchecking Java(Sun) the runtime error ceased in IE6.
