WHy are there extra user accounts in the c drive under
documents and settings?? I see there the 4 that belong to
each member of my family. THen there is extra ones like
1) administrator & 2) owner. Wouldnt those 2 be the
same?? We got our pc new and my husband is the one who
registered it (or the name is under)-SO wouldnt he be the
owner or the administrator?? Can someone clarify this as
this doesnt make sence to me. thanks

Administrator is a separate account - a sort of backup less prone to be
corrupted by whatever Owner, guests are doing.
If you want, you can change the name "Administrator" to whatever you want -
recommended against hackers anyway since they 'guess' the username
"Administrator" quite easily. However, avoid using the Adminstrator
account - just live it as a backup acct.
Don't know what flavor your XP (OEM, Home...) but in Pro, to change the name
"Administrator" or any other names, accounts etc, go:
Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management/Local Users And
Groups/Users. In the Right pane, right click the account whose name (Rename)
or properties (Properties!) you want to change, delete it etc.
