C Drive pops open on start up

Hi,

You know if it wasn't a computer I could just tape the drawer shut.HA.

When I start my system C Drive opens up automatically. If I close it before
startup is complete(ie.interne connection establish, starting the
overclocker, etc.) it just pops open again. I don't have a link to it in my
startup folder. That's the only thing I could think of to check. Any ideas?
Thanks

Thanks for the response however, that site said I would be deleting all my
System Restore points in order to use msconfig and it didn't say anything
about files that pop open uncalled for. Pershaps the information I need is
there, but I'm not computer literate enough to discover it.
Thanks anyway though.

This will only occur if you tell it to turn off default services. Its unlikely that a Service is causing this.

When you clear the Load System Services check box, you disable Microsoft services such as Networking, Plug and Play, Event Logging, and Error Reporting. You also permanently delete all restore points for the System Restore utility. Do not clear this check box if you want to retain your restore points for System Restore, or if you have to use a Microsoft service to test a problem.

Just a thought, but on many computers drive letters A & B are reserved for
floppy or other drives, and C is assigned to to the system partition on your
hard drive. So perhaps there is some conflict if you have letter C assigned
to some other device.

Linus, Another thought- it sound like C: is assigned to both the hd which
never pops open and also to the cd/dvd drive which does pop open. I'm
suprized Doug didn't catch that.
