Running on WindowsXp pro SR2
Recently was infected by Antivirus2008. Took my computer to local shop and
they got my system cleaned up and running again with a few remaining
problems. The one I'm trying to resolve is a non-appearing C Drive.
C Drive does not appear in a number of cases. For example when I double-
click My Computer the C drive does not appear. When I use the Zip
Extraction Wizard, and go to Select a destination, the (C) Drive does not
appear. Or when I go to save a notepad file, when I click File/Save and
the Save As window appears, and I click on My computer, the C Drive does
not appear.
What might be another manifestation, is when I go to the Microsoft Update
site, it appears that the site stops responding, probably because it can't
find drive C. Same when I tried updating to SR3.
What could be causing the C Drive to not appear?
If I right click on Start and then Explore the C drive appears and I can
access, delete etc.
I have a month old image of my system. If this problem is not fixable I
could go back to it.
I'd appreciate your suggestions.
TIA
