Bypassing Norton Antivirus

I don't want to disable my Norton Antivirus, but it won't let me receive mail in Outlook 2003. What can I do to get the antivirus to allow my mail through?
 
Norton cannot 'stop' your mail from being delivered; your account settings
must be wrong, or if you have a firewall installed, it is blocking Outlook
perhaps.

Thank you. Do you have specific suggestions on how I can receive my mail in Outlook without losing the protection of either my Norton products or my PopUp Begone. Isn't temporarily disabling taking a gamble with vulnerability? I'm pretty sure we agree on the problem. I'm looking for a suggested solution or somewhere to look for a solution.

Suggest you re-read James's recommendations. He was suggesting that
Norton can't and won't stop mail. I agree. If outlook is not receiving
mail, it's probably becuase of the reasons suggested by James.

In Norton, you can chose the Optoins menu to to turn of email scanning
but this is probably not the root-cause of the problem you report.

Thanks, Rob. However, when I turned off e-mail scanning in Norton, which another MVP suggested, my mail began coming in just fine. It was, in fact, the apparent root cause of the problem.

Well, that's good to know. Ensure you inform the Norton. Norton works
fine for me with Outlook 2003.
