Is there any way to bypass the windows logon? I haven't
used my laptop is 6 months and I forgot my login. Now is
not letting me do anything. How can I reset it so that I
can enter a new password? Please HELP!!!

I have the same problem, my daughter has set a new user
and change the setting that userid/password is required to
login. She doesn't remember what she set the password to.
Any help is appreciated!

Yeah, like there'd be any security if passwords could simply be reset by
anyone. Do a Google search on "Windows 2000 password" and you'll find
utilities that will try. One runs as a unix (linux?) bootable floppy
that tries to hack your password or maybe it figures out how to hack the
SAM file. Or you can purchase tools, like Locksmith (now part of their
other products) from WinInternals. Or you could call Microsoft and pay
them to help you provided you gave them ample proof that you are the
owner of both the hardware and software license.

You haven't used the laptop in 6 months. So any data on it is either
unimportant or you have it backed up elsewhere. I suppose you could
reformat the drive and install a fresh copy of Windows 2000. Or, if you
were smart by creating a backup administrator account (i.e., another
account under the Administrators group) for which you remember its
password then use that one to reset the password for the Administrator
account.

I had a system which required no logon password. Today, I
decided to use one. So I set up a new administrator
account with a password and removed my previous user
account and the default administrator account. I
accomplished this using the User and Password applet in the
Control Panel. The next time I logged on, the user account
that I removed appeared on the logon dialog box. I typed
in my new user name and password but the system did not
recognize my password. How can I bypass the windows logon?
