Bypass logon, remove network domain

We took an XP Pro machine from a network/domain office and
brought it home. The passwords arent working and we need
to bypass the logon/password screen and then remove the
network so it wont ask for it.

We tried changing from the Domain to the local user
account (at the logon screen it gave us the option in a
drop down box) but the password that we thought it was
must be incorrect or its looking for the network to verify
it. We did try using admin w/ the old admin password and
w/ it blank.

It was a small business that I sold and someone showed me
how to set the machine up to belong to a domain. Now that
I have taken the computer back, I need to remove the
network/CTRL ALT DLT PASSWORD LOGON and I assume in order
to do that I need to bypass the logon/password screen.

How do I do that?

Thank you

First things first. Do you know one of the account names
and passwords that were used on the domaine? If so, even
though you are not connected you can log on with one of
them, and it will log on with cached credentials. Then you
must have admin privleges with that account to add a local
account. After the local account is created and it must
have admin privleges on the local machine too, you can then
log onto the local machine with the new account and remove
the system from the domain within the system
properties/computer name tab. Once that is done you can
tell the machine within the security configuration that you
want to use simple file sharing on the box and it will
remove your logon. Then go into the documents and settings
folder within the C drive and remove all of the folders for
people that will not have access to the machine and then
remove the user accounts. If you can not get a domain
admin account user and password then you will have to
format and reload windows in order to remove these locks.
