Hello all,
I currently have Windows 2000 active directory domain
running on my PDC (main1.XY.com.jo) and i have a RDC (
server.XY.com.jo) and everything was running smoothly
until by mistake i added another 2000 server as a stand
alone on my XY.com.jo domain by the name of server. After
that i changed the new installed server to a different
name and i thought that things will be fine like this,
but unfortunately i was wrong. The RDC is causing me
problems right now, i mean a client browsing through the
network trying to access the RDC server will get the
error message:
\\server is not accessible. You might not have permission
to use this network resource. Contact the administrator
of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

Logon Failure: The target account name is incorrect.

What is weird is that the RDC is giving me an error when
trying to use dcpromo.exe

What do you think??

Check you DNS server records (forward and reverse zones) if there are any
references to the other (wrong) server ipaddress. Remove host records that
you think are wrong. Restart your DC server so that it can reregister with a
DNS server (or restart netlogon service)
