Buzzer notification and warning

Hi,

I hope someone can help. when I installed windows XP, many questions were
asked about notifications and warning. I cannot remember where that was
done. I chose mainly buzzer notifications for instance when the system
heats up, or problems with the fans etc.

When I work on a graphics programme and I keep the mouse button too long at
a certain place (used for dragging and placing a graphic on a certain place)
I get this buzzing sound from my pc. It does not come through the speakers,
it comes directly from the cpu.

I want to turn these sounds off please. where do I go

Thanks in advance

Hi Lize,

I've encountered apps that come with motherboards performing the same
monitoring function, but what you're describing sounds more like the
monitoring function of the BIOS. You should be able to adjust the
temperature at which point the alarm goes off at your BIOS settings screen.
I find that 50C is a reasonable limit, but I believe you can set it up to
round 60C without trouble - so long as you've got good ventilation in the
box.

Hi Stephen,

thanks so much for the feedback. Sorry I reply so late, but I was away for
a few days, finding warmer spots during winter as we have winter now in
South Africa.

One more thing..........I don't know where to access the settings to change
the temperature. This must be indeed the problem, as I remembered when I
installed XP service pack 2 that I have set quite a few settings for the
temperature and a few other things, but like hell I can remember where. I
was so anxious to get started and never took note of it. I don't really
would like to access the bios if not absolutely necessary, but seems to me
this is where it has to be done.......right??

Thanks a lot for your help

Most correct. There should be some settings for System Temperature
Monitoring or something along those lines.
