Microsoft sure makes it difficult to buy something on
their website. I am interested in buying a CD of patches
to WinXP-SP1. I have a recent PC loaded with XP but the
SUS says I need to download 15 security patches. I have
a slow modem and pay by the hour for my Internet time so
I would rather get all the patches on a CD-ROM. I spent
at least half an hour trying to find a way to buy updates
or to contact someone at MS, but only came to deadends on
their web site. They want me to pay for a Passport
subscription so they can tell me how to buy something
from them. It would be greatly appreciated if someone
would give me some hints about getting this. TIA!

Greetings

Microsoft does not sell the patchs on CD's. They are aware that this is a
problem for people with dail-up and are working on other ways for people
just like you to obtain the patchs.

Hi Doug,

I'm confused. I've got Passports with several different email addresses and
have never seen anything requiring payment. I've got one with a free HotMail
account and others with non-Microsoft (HotMail, MSN) email addresses.

Do you have any friends with high-speed lines (either at home or at work)
that could download files for you and make you a CD?

Best Buy and others will patch your system for a fee and they may even sell
these on CDR but I'm not sure about that.
I was sitting at the repair counter after returning my third set of THX
certified 5.1 speakers after blowing them out and got to talking with a
fellow that was having his XP system patched.
I don't recall the price he paid but the extended repair or replace warranty
I purchased on the speakers was worth every penny.
