Are you referring to a vcard?

Microsoft Outlook supports the use of vCards, the Internet standard for
creating and sharing virtual business cards. You can save a contact (contact:
Person, inside or outside of your organization, about whom you can save
several types of information, such as street and e-mail addresses, telephone
and fax numbers, and Web page URLs.) as a vCard and send it in an e-mail
message. You can also add a vCard to your e-mail signature. When you open a
vCard, it opens as a contact item, and you can easily save it to your
Contacts folder.

For more information please see:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx
enter the term 'vcard' into the search field or enter 'vcard' into outlook
help.

But do I have to add myself as a contact to create a vcard that I can send to
others with my contact information?

Open the contact (contact: Person, inside or outside of your organization,
about whom you can save several types of information, such as street and
e-mail addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and Web page URLs.) you want to
save as a vCard.
In this case it would be your contact record. On the File menu, click Export
to vCard file. Type a name in the File name box, and then click Save.

I hope this helps.
