We are having a similar problem. One of our users has been using BCM for
several months, and now her outlook can't open BCM. The message is "cannot
find any business contact manager databases on computer (our server name
here), login failed. So i check in the database manager, and her name has
disappeared from the list. When I add it back in, I get this: Current user
does not have permission to grant other users permission to connect to the
sql server. Please give the current user grantlogin privileges on the sql
server. This coming 5 minutes after I added a new employee, so apparently I
being the current user DOES have permission to grant log ins to other users!
Thinking maybe the database has a corruption, I did a restore of the
database from a couple of weeks ago, and it let me add her finally. I go to
her computer and restart outlook, same error message. I go back and look at
the database manager, her name has disappeared again! But it won't let me add
it in again, I get the earlier message that I don't have the ability to grant
login permission to others.
We are running SQL Server 2005 on windows server 2003, with the end user
computers being Office for Small Business 2007 on Win XP Service Pack 3.
I also dragged her .ost file out of the folder and let outlook create a new
..ost, but this had no effect.
