Nearly every time I switch from one mail folder to another in Outlook 2003
an error message from Business Contact Manager is shown - "Business Contact
Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience". It then tells me I might have lost information and invites me
to tell Microsoft about the problem. Well, I have on countless occasions but
there has as yet been no response! This is no worse than annoying as I never
use BCM so I don't know why it's supposedly open in the first place.
Has anyone else encountered this problem, and fixed it?

Since you stated in your email that you never use BCM with Outlook you can
try the following steps provide and check whether it resolves your issue.

Go to start > control panel > mail > show profiles > select the profile >
click on properties > data file management > remove Business contact manager
data base then try opening Outlook and see whether the issue occurs .
