Business Contact Manager Collaboration

Our organization has had quite a bit of trouble using ACT! and has
decided to move to BCM. The largest obstacle is the lack of
collaboration...BCM has no inherent ability to synchronize with a
central database nor other users. I am wondering if anyone has any
experience in taking this from a stand-alone to dumping everyone's
info into a repository. This repository would allow for access to the
information in such a way that we could create our own
"synchronization" and reporting.

BCM is a single user application. My understanding is that it's not
possible (due to some settingin the MSDE database used by BCM) to access
the data with anything but BCM ... perhaps I'm misinformed here, though.
For multi-user use, seems as if another product should be used. There
are many multi-user CRM products available (commercial or open source).
