Business Contact Manager and SBS 2003

two question
I have installed Office Professional on an XP machine and joined a domain which has SBS2003 server only in it
I have then installed Business Contact Manager - it works OK with a profile which has a POP3 account only
I then installed the MS Patch Q83174
As soon as I place an Exchange account in this profile, ticking the cached exchange mode checkbox - BCM removes itself

I then did teh registry hack as found herein to add the value field '5.2'. However I had to create the Smallbusinessserver registry key,
does anyone have any ideas why Outlook didnt create this key

After creating the key I still can not get BCM to work with an Exchange account in a profile

Any other ideas greatlyu appreciated

My symptoms are that I have BCM working ok on a profile that only has a POP3 account init. When I add (to this profile) an exchange account, then close and reopen Outlook, I get the message that BCM cannotrun on a profile with Exchange
This is after runningthe Microsoft fix Qarticle and the hack you describe by adding the "5.2" key

(How does Outlook know it is connected toExchange from SBS as apposed to stand-alone Exchange?)

It is know that BCM disables itself with Outlook
communicates to Exchange. BCM works with POP3 only.

so what is the purpose of the Mircosoft article 831747

It seems that numerous people are unable toget BCM to work in the same Outlook 2003 profile as Exchange - even if the profile has a POP3 acocunt or not

has anyone managed to get BCM working in an profile with Exchange (SBS2003)?

If you are using BCM with Exchange on SBS then you need to install the
update referenced in the article.
