the I just finished editing my first trial movie using Windows Movie Maker
I followed all steps and saved on WR CD.
I am now able to watch the movie with Window Media Player and with Real One
Plyer on my computer, BUT when I took it to the DVD player attached to my TV
it will not show. I do get a screen that whows SMART NAVI... and then a chart
with roots and the name of the movie , but the movie will not play.
I wonder what I did wrong..
I AM able to see a CD with pictures I took, but not the CD I did with WMM.
Help Please!

Most DVD players can display different picture formats but none of them can
display videos.
If you want to watch the CD on a home DVD player then you need to create a
VCD or, if you have a DVD burner a DVD, using a DVD Authoring program. There
is a list of popular programs on my website along with links to
purchase/download or to download free trials.

Your CD with Jpegs is a data CD, and your DVD player has software to decode.
Your CD is a *VCD*, I would assume as your dvd player can read data, then
VCD won't be a problem either, so I'll opt that when you type WR CD, that
you
used a CD-RW disk?
CD-RW and CD-R have different pit reading level requirements etc.
I think your DVD player probably won't have any problems reading your video
if you burn to CD-R.

Oops, there is another possibilty..........
Standalone DVD players can only read disks that have a TOC (Table of
contents)
This requires the disk is "finalised".
Disks that have *NOT* been finalised can be played in the software that they
were
compiled with, but ensure disk is finalised to be able to play in your dvd
player.

Karen, everything Decoder said is 100% accurate but I still have the feeling
that you created a "data" disk instead of a VCD disk. How exactly did you go
about putting the content on the disk?

Thanks to Wojo and Decoder
I am new to all this, got the WMM with my lap top windows XP a couple of
years ago, and this is my first atempt to make something more then just
pictues.
Once I made the project, I tried burning a WR disk folowing the instractions
of the WMM,
since I could not play it, using my DVD player, I tried to burn it using
Roxio Easy CD creator 5 ( came with the Lap Top), making a date CD project ,
again using WR Cd disk.
Should I use the Make a CD data DVD project? and if so...do I need a
diferent CD?
Or should I follow instruction of WMM using a different CD?
Thanks for your patientce... sorry for the delay in ansewering, had to
travel...

Hi Karen
I don't use Roxio Easy CD Creator because I personally do not like the
product but using it to create a data DVD will not work. That function
simply burns the video file (WMV or AVI format) to a disk and your home DVD
player can't read those files. You need to create a DVD Project in order to
make a DVD that works in your home player. As far as using a RW (You said WR
but it is actually RW) disk instead of a
-R/+R disk may or may not work. Some DVD Players can't read the RW disks.
