I am taking a poll, so I can find out which software I should upgrade, to
burn MovieMaker2 movies to DVD.

I currently have Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator (v5) and Sonic MyDVD (v5).

I have the following options/offers:
Roxio Easy Media 7: $79 after $20 rebate
Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6: $39.95 (expires 08/31/04)
- or -
Sonic MyDVD v6 Studio Deluxe Suite: $99
Sonic MyDVD v6 Studio Deluxe: $69
Sonic MyDVD v6 Studio: $49

Actually, if someone recommends something else, I will also take a look at
that option.

Thanks,

John Ward

Update, Actually I found a way to get Roxio Easy Media 7 for $69 after a $30
instant rebate.

So I can compare similar suites:
Roxio Easy Media 7: $69 after $30 rebate
Sonic MyDVD v6 Studio Deluxe: $69

Any suggestions and experience would greatly be appreciated.

Sincerely,

John Ward

Where's the $30 rebate from?

I just bought a Dell that had a light version of MyDVD. I captured
video from my digital palmcorder just fine. But then when I burned it
to DVD, the sync was lost on some of the clips. So I don't trust it.

Since then, I started a 30 eval for Ulead Movie Factory and something
called DVDLab. Both seem pretty good, though DVDLab gives more
features and control. Also, I'm trying to find an eval copy of Roxio
Easy Media Creator 7. It got great reviews and I know someone who
likes it. And it's under a hundred bucks. So that's a contender.

Anyone have opinions about Roxio? Or any of the others?

Thanks,

Ken

Ken,

This is how I got the special $30 rebate.

1. First you probably need to clear your cookies and cache, especially from
the roxio website.
2. Open up www.roxio.com in Internet Explorer.
3. Click on the Learn More button for Easy Media Creator 7.
4. Wait for the full www.roxio.com/en/products/ecdc/features_burn.jhtml to
load.
5. Now type in www.sonic.com into the Address bar of the browser.
6. A "Get Free Shipping if you buy now!" window should pop up. Close it.
7. A Pop-Up window titled "No Time For Shopping Now?" should show.
8. Enter your email address, and bingo, you will get an offer for Easy
Media Creator 7 for $69 after $30 instant rebate plus Free Shipping.

I just verified the steps work, at least for me.

OH, and by the way, read the below press release. It appears Sonic is
purchasing Roxio's software division.
