burning to a CD

i have a CD-RW drive on my computer. I've tried using CD-RW's and CD-R's,
both which have enough space to store my movie, but whenever I try to save it
an error comes up that says the movie could not be saved to the specified
location. Any ideas as to why this is happening??

Also, my movie needs to eventually make it on to a DVD that can be played on
a DVD player. If I get it saved onto a CD, is it possible to bring that CD
to some sort of photo place and have them transfer it to DVD?

I don't know of any services that will create a DVD for you from a video
file but I imagine there are some out there.

As far as the issue you are having are you certain there is enough space on
the disk? A CD is only 700MB and videos, depending on the quality settings,
can get rather large.

The other thing I would check out is if CD Recording is enabled on the
drive. Some DLA programs disable CD Recording so that it is handled through
their software instead of Windows XP. To check go to "My Computer" and right
click the CD Writer. Then select properties and click the [Recording] tab.
Make sure there is a check mark next to "Enable CD Recording on this drive"

As a workaround you could simply save it to your hard drive then use Windows
Explorer to drag the video file to the CD then click "Write These Files to
CD"
