Now I understand what you meant.And Chris is correct.My
burner can burn up to 48X.I've used the 40X speed just to
see how well it worked and had no problems with the cd
playing in a home audio cd player and my car cd player.But
my philosophy has always been "what's the hurry". Also
keep in mind that it depends on the manufacturer of the
cdr media that you use and the manufacturer of the audio
cd player that you are using it in.As a rule though,the
slower the speed the better the chance of creating an
error free cd.I usually burn between 8X and 16X.

Mine play fine at 24x, but that is the maximum speed I would use. Slower is
better.
