I made a movie in WMM and now I want to burn it to a DVD. In Windows Movie
Maker, under Finish Movie, it only gives me the option to "Save to CD." My
friend says his computer gives him the option to "Save to DVD." I have a DVD
burner on my computer, how can I burn my movie to a DVD that will work in DVD
players? Will it work if I tried "Save to CD?" Thanks for the help

No...it won't work in a DVD player if you choose
"Save to CD".

The only version of Movie Maker that has the DVD
option is the one included on Windows XP Media
Center PCs. And even then the option is reported
to be undependable.

Here's some info on creating a DVD:

You seem to be very knowledgably so I had to ask. I made a movie with Movie
Maker. I saved it and can view it on the computer. I want to be able to view
in on my TV. I use to use Image Mixer which came with my Sony camera and even
though I DO NOT have a DVD on my computer I was able to save it as a video
file (IMA) and still watch it in my DVD player on the TV. I contacted Image
Mixer, Microsoft, Dell to try to find out how to do this and they were not
able to help. I also downloaded a trial program to convert the file from a
WMA to a MPEG. When I did that, Roxy was not able to open it. I tried to send
file to cd and again I can only view on the computer. I really loved working
with movie maker, it was fast and easy but I need to see it on TV. Is there
any possible way to really make this happen?

If you only have a CD burner...you could
create a VCD...that's a Video CD...they
are compatible with most DVD players.

First you would save your Movie Maker
project to a folder on your hard drive as
a movie...File / Save Movie File...
or type...Ctrl+P.

Next...you need to import the completed
..wmv or .avi movie file into a software
program that will create a VCD. Most
DVD players will play a VCD...check
the manual for your DVD player for
compatibility. A VCD is a Video Disk
created on a CD instead of a DVD.

I've had success with a program called
'InterVideo WinDVD Creator'...there are
many others...'NeroVision Express'...is
another example. The main thing is the
program must be able to create a VCD
from a .wmv or .avi video file.

You need a DVD authoring software.

Thank you John. I finally found someone who understands what I am talking
about. I need to make it into a VCD. I am downloading the software from the
site 'InterVideo WinDVD Creator' I will let you know if it works. Thanks so
much.

John in which environment do I get started with to convert to VCD with Inter
Video? I tried them all?

================================
Here are some basic steps that
work for me...

Insert a blank CD-R in your CD Burner.
(if a dialog opens asking what you want
to do...close it)

Open WinDVD Creator.

Click...Create New Project button.

Import button...browse to the video/s you
wish to use. Open them in the program.

Drag the clips to the cells at the bottom
of the screen in the order you want them
to play.

Now you can add your music. Audio
Library button / Import / select the file
and open it. Drag the file to the clip
you want it associated with.

Make Movie button...

Format: VCD...

TV System: NTSC...

Click the arrow to advance to the next screen...

Burn to disk button...

Click the right arrow to advance to the next screen...

Select your CD Burner...

Burning Speed: Optimal...

Start button...

Wait while the program burns your VCD...

When the disk ejects...try it in your DVD player...

Good luck.

You're welcome...thanks for the update.

As I have posted many times before,
I'm not a video expert...so I'm happy
to know the method I use was successful
for you also.
