burning cd

i upgraded from 98 se to xp home nowneither my sony cd
extreme or my nti cd maker 6 platinum will reconize my cd
rom writer philips jr24cdrw they both did in 98 se.
desperate. computer loaded with mp3 and cant burn disc so
i can delete mp3's and free up alot of
space. i would greatly appriate a solution
