burners

I know this subject has been covered before but I had no need, now I do, for
a friend.
She has Roxio, Nero, and QuickBooks installed but none of them show any
burners available.
I have compared her disk, one cd and one DVD, properties to mine and see no
difference. Same version programs work fine for me.
If anyone knows how to repair or where to look for more on this please let
me know. I believe she also said she had files in XP's intrinsic burn
program that would not burn or clear out.
Your help IS appreciated
I'm pulling much hair on this as can't back up QuickBooks business records.

Any errors in device manager?
