burner troubles

I have just started to copy my cd's (previously burned by
me), my cd player stops responding midway through the
checking of the cd, and I can't then continue to copy the
first cd..any suggestions,,,i did manage to do one copy
successfully, and now I can't get it to copy
anymore..these aren't copyright cd's,
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I
blow up my computer

Instead of copying from CD to CD-R on-the-fly, try ripping the contents of
the CD to your hard drive first, and then burning those files to CD-R.
