Has anyone tried a product called DVDX Point to burn PPpresentation to DVD? If so, does it work and do you know of a better product that will keep all transistions in tact?

No, I haven't tried it.

If you do, would you post back and let me know how it worked out for you?
Most of the presentations I do would not adapt to a DVD environment due to
required sync of speaker vs. presentation, but in a few cases, I could
really use a high-quality pre-recorded 'music to presentation synced' show.

Most important to me would be the two following issues:
Image quality -- TV, DVD or Monitor (1024x768)?
Sound sync -- does it allow for manual recording of the show (for better
match of beats to transitions) or does it sync only as well as PowerPoint
can (very poorly)?

Whenever I read the ads for these things I always get my hopes up. In too
many cases, the reality of a product falls somewhat below my wishful
expectations. It often does what it says on the box, but not quite what was
needed. The box on this one looks good, does the product live up to the
box?

Thanks, in advance, for posting back with a product review,
B

Yes i have purchased this product and the music does not
play through out presentation, and to advance to next
slides you have to press play. I strongly do not
recommend this program. sorry. I have purchased a dvd
recorder to burn to dvd. I guess it depends on what you
have in your presentation but i found that this is exactly
the way that i have created my presentation. Only down
fall to this is price. 800.00 canadian. I also tried
camtasia studio but always seem to be glitches when i
tried to capture the presentations(even when everything
was done the way the company said)just a little note.

Yup, gave it a try on a number of occasions, was never thrilled with the
results. Also had a lot of problems with support.

Nola,

1. When you say you "purchased a dvd recorder to burn to dvd," what type of
dvd recorder did you buy? A stand-alone, desktop, dvd recorder, like those
sold to record dvd's from television broadcasts and camcorders, or a dvd
recording drive for you computer?

2. How well does your dvd recorder work for you?

3. Do presentations include sounds, and if so, does your recorder include
the sounds on your dvd's?

i purchased a computer dvd burner, but because of the
problems with camtasia when these dvd's were burnt they
were not correct, so i purchase a standalone panasonic dvd
recorder. I do presentations for funerals and in my
presentations are audio and numerous jpgs with transitions
and as well i sometimes import clipart(some animated).
All of this is recorded real time with the dvd recorder
and is burned exactly the way that the presentation was
created, it actualy plays better dvd than it does cd(with
powerlink plus). Only problem once was the person who
received dvd, it would not work on their standalone
because there was a compatability issue. But according to
panasonic that issue is also with proffessional dvd's as
well, Spoke also with panasonic tech who advised that
there is not error when burning with this recorder, and
they appear to be correct at this point. Hope this helps,
isn't this a great forum, i sure use this alot.

I am not familiar with the DVD recorder? Is this like a DVD video camera?? I would love information on this?

I regret to say, I did buy it. It doesn't do what it says in that:
1. It doesn't transition automatically, you must click the remote to move to the next slide
2. The visual quality is not as sharp as it plays on your computer
3. The music will not hold it's transitions, it starts on slide one and ends on slide 2 (despite your power point settings).

In terms of your use--it may work, as you can move the slides at your own pace and it would work for business presentations (simple), without mpeg or wav files but it is definitely in the primitive stages of development (despite the advertisement on the website and the box.

Hope this helps :(

AP,

A DVD recorder is not like a camera. It's like a videocassette recorder,
except instead of recording on cassettes, it records on DVDs.

A DVD recorder is a stand-alone device. In other words, it's not the same as
a DVD burner drive in a computer. Instead, a DVD recorder is designed to be
used to record television programs from TV sets and videos from camcorders.
It also can be used to record PowerPoint presentations from computers that
have A/V Out or S-Video ports.
