Steve Wylie

I have just started using Powerpoint XP. I have done a
large slideshow, but now want to bulleted lists to come
in one bullet at a time. When I used to use PP97 or
PP2000, I'm sure this was really easy to do, but I'm
having trouble with the new interface on PPXP!

I have managed to do it on one slide by going Custom
Animation/Add Effect/Entrance/Appear/Effect Options/Text
Animation/and Group Text by 1st Level Paragraphs.

But do I have to do this manually now on each and every
slide (70+) that has bulleted lists, or is there a way
of "copying" across the effect onto other lists? I tried
to record a macro but it doesn't work for this.

Hope someone can help!

Steve,

There is something called "animation schemes" on the slideshow.

This appears to be able to apply to all slides

From the help pages

Apply a preset animation scheme

If you only want to apply the animation scheme to a few slides, click the
Slides tab, and select the slides you want.
On the Slide Show menu, click Animation Schemes.
In the Slide Design task pane, under Apply to selected slides, click an
animation scheme in the list.
If you want to apply the scheme to all slides, click the Apply to All Slides
button.

I thought this would be easy, but I must be doing
something wrong...

I call up the Animation Schemes and select one of two of
the slides in the slides view, but when I click on one of
the schemes (like "Appear"), the blue bar moves down for
a second, then moves back up to "No Animation". I cannot
get a scheme to stick.

Steve,
Try putting the animation on the master slide. Process is:
View --> Master --> Slide Master
Apply your animation to the placeholder
Close the Master Slide View

Now, at the top of each animation list, you should see a Master: Body item.
If you want to change the animations for a specific slide, right click the
entry and select "Copy Effects to Slide".

Note: I don't normally recommend using master animations, as I only believe
in using animations where they are needed. However, since it sounds like you
have already made that decision, this is the quickest way to apply all your
animations.

Post back and let us know if that give you the results you want.

Thanks for the information, and I'll keep a copy of it to use if I need to
do this again. But in the event, the person I was constructing the
slideshow for decided they didn't want the bullets coming up one at a time
after all...!

Thanks again for your advice.
