Bullets do not appear

When typing a list in Powerpoint with bullets, the first two-line bullet is
fine, but when hit return for the next bullet, the bullet does not appear. I
need it to be somewhat like below:

Go to View|Master|Slide Master and see if you have a bullet applied to the
2nd level in the placeholder there. It could be that it's not there at all,
or it could be that it's set to the same color as the slide background so
it's not showing up.
