Our Chief Information Officer is adamant that we must use
standard bullet points when creating our powerpoint
templates instead of fonts that may not be supported on
other machines.

I have decided to stick with Ariel and have chosen a
bullet point style in the subset known as 'Geometric
Shapes'.

These will aleviate the CIO's issue regarding
standardisation across all computers that have at least
installed Windows XP. However my concern is that
Geometric Shapes may not be available to users who are
still running Windows 95.

Any one got any thoughts on this?

Yup. It won't work in Win95, I'm betting. If memory serves, Win95 offered
no support for Unicode, and fonts with subsets like Geometric Shapes are
Unicode fellas.

You can check this out like so:

Start Character Map (Start, Programs, Accessories usually)
Choose Arial.
Put a check next to Advanced View
For Character Set, choose "Windows: Western"

Now you'll notice that you can only scroll through two screens full of
characters where before there were bazillions of the little critters. Those
two screens, the first 256 character positions in the font, are all that
Win95 can deal with. Puts a damper on the old bulletcreativity, eh? ;-)

Alt+0149 is the standard bullet character in this range, by the way.
