Built-in Video Cards & memory?

I have a IBM 300PL, PII, 450Mhz machine. I would like to install XP Plus and
run the screen savers there. Unfortunately, it seems video ram reqs. are at
least 16Mg for these little gems. My machine being so old I believe has
built-in AGP with 4Mg video ram.

Questions: to anyone that can help
How/were do I look in XP to get the video ram size?
Can I add additional video ram on a built-in Video card?
 
Read the manual that came with your computer. It is often settable in the BIOS. The downside is it takes it from normal memory.

Type DXDiag and look on the Display page.

If your pc has a 4MB video chip, you will not be able to raise it.
Period.
What you CAN do, is simply buy a 3D card and pop it in. Takes no "pc
knowledge" and about 5 minutes of your time.
Good news is that since 128 and 256MB cards are flooding the market,
you can pick up a GOOD 64MB card for around $30.

Not only will you then be able to run any screensaver, and almost any
3D game...... your windows performance will also improve since
graphics performance is a big part of XP.

A very dumb question as I suspect there probably is a great deal of
difference.:
I am seeing a lot of 64Bit video cards on eBay. Is there a difference
between 64Bit and 64Mg cards?

64 bit would be the chip set......... a 2MB card can have a 64bit
chip.
My personal advice would be to steer clear of used cards.
New ones are cheap enough. For maximum compatability with 3D
games/screensavers..... look for either an ATI or Nvidia (Geforce)
based card.
Remember, you're looking for MEMORY size........ 64MB being the
standard these days........but the more, the better.
