Is there any freeware which will allow me to build a series of 10 or so
pictures into a smallish moving .gif, so that when i look at the .gif in
Windows Pic & Fax Viewer it moves ?

Cheers
Andy

But that doesn't seem to like importing .jpg's (it doesn't see them !). Do i
have to firstly convert the jpg to gif ??

I don't know of any .gif animator that lets you use .jpg files as base
images. So, yes, you will have to convert them.

Cheers bad monkey, actually it's not that difficult to convert the jpgs to
gifs, so thanks for the link anyway, it is a nice little program.

Hmmm...

I've since had a look at this. Direct link:

http://www.pricelessware.org/thelist/files/UleadGifAnimator22.zip

It doesn't look like freeware; it looks like warez.

Anybody want to give a second opinion?

The setup crashed my sytem, so that smells funny. At the time I was reading
something about the warranty replacing the cd within 90 days, and I read
something about not allowed to copy and spread other than a copy for
yourself.
At the least it doesn't feel kosher and/or halal.

I'd say that file was downloaded from:
http://www.klitetools.com/MM/UleadGifAnimator22.zip
(The file name is usually "Gif Animator.zip")

The klitetools ZIP package looks okay to me (files sizes and dates are
right). I imagine Garrett's .zip is too.

The size went up a bit because www.klitetools.com added "READ ME FIRST
!!.htm" (a blurb for their site) to the package.

That's my guess... they are identical files.

A search for UleadGifAnimator.zip quickly turns up a fosi warez rip of
version 3 'Full Version.'

But.
It calls itself a 'full' version throughout the install.
In 'help/about' it has a tech assistance ID number which is supposedly
reserved for purchased builds
It has a 'register wizard' which asks all sorts of questions as to where
it was purchased.
There is no licensing info anywhere in the app, no license.txt, no info
in the readme, or in help/about.

Do the freeware builds call themselves 'full version'? It all seems
rather odd... don't quite smell right.
I could be being paranoid; it has been known :-)

per PL2002 (I think):

"ULEAD GIF ANIMATOR
LE 1.0 is LIGHT version and 2.0 is former Shareware version now
available as Freeware - Home Page links to commercial version."

I tried the klitetools.com GA20F.EXE file and it asked if I wanted to
install 2.0 Full Version. the klitetools.com files are:

GA20F.EXE 12/17/1999 4,298,197 bytes
MFC40.DLL 04/29/1999 924,432 bytes
MSVCRT40.DLL 08/09/1996 65,024 bytes
READ ME FIRST !!.htm 07/07/2004 1.189 bytes

The first three files exactly match the files in a "Gif Animator.zip" I
downloaded in 2001.

Ah. thank you. That makes sense. So it looks to be a shareware build
with the restrictions removed by Ulead. That would explain the
discrepancies I was seeing.
Thx.
